Identity in Web3

Authors

Observation: I had somewhat equated ETH addresses with an 'identity', but when you start working with them, you quickly realize that it's not the case. For example, I use different wallets. Safari does not support MetaMask. Even if that were the case, I would have to synchronize the ETH addresses between devices, which is possible, but cumbersome, and requires a certain technical effort.

Strictly speaking, there is no way to assign the various devices one uses to one's own person. A corporation always intervenes. For example, the Apple ID is uniform for all Apple devices I use (as long as I use the same Apple ID everywhere). However, this excludes all devices that are not from Apple. Moreover, this ID is of course managed by Apple, so it is to a considerable extent outside of my control.

This naturally raises the question again of what my identity is. Does it have something to do with the devices I use? How much does it have to do with my body? Whose interest is it in that I can only very difficultly define my identity myself?
